About Me

Toronto-based Stephanie Matteis is a writer, director, documentarian, and showrunner.

Her award-winning, international work showcases seasoned strength in factual storytelling with compelling narratives — the kind you just can’t stop watching. With a foundation in traditional media, Stephanie develops multi-platform programming that connects with millions.

She has extensive experience on air, and launched her on air career covering the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 for CTV National. In addition to her stories as a senior investigative producer and reporter for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, some highlights include: award-winning documentaries for Discovery Channel, political coverage for a CTV special that the Globe & Mail called a game-changer, and current affairs programming for CBC Marketplace.

She’s interviewed undercover operatives about espionage, talked about Sudan with George Clooney, trained for urban warfare with the military, talked to astronauts about living in space, and thanked U2 for providing the soundtrack to her life.

There are very few things that leave her searching for words. A few that did? Winding her way through the souk in Fez, Morocco; talking to the business women of the Makola Market in Accra, Ghana; the sunsets in Costa Rica; standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon; and surfing — though she usually finds a few choice words for that when she wipes out.

The videos included here are a small sample of those she produced with teams for broadcast and digital.
